Norma Kamali

Norma Kamali

The fashion designer was born on the 27th June 1945 in Arraes New York City.

She was educated at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York from 1961-1964 she studied in Fashion Illustration.

She was married to Mohammed Hussein Kamali in the year of 1967 but the couples marriage was short lived when they divorced in 1972

Before getting to the status that she’s at today Norma tried many careers including
A freelance fashion illustrator, an airline reservation clerk! Yes you don’t get to where you want to be in the drop of a pin, you have to work for it.

Anyway in 1968 she opened her first store with then husband Mohammed. The story was named Kamala and was opened in New York 1968. After a bitter divorce the designer then went on to open another store which she called (OMO) short for opened on my own, do we need mention about the divorce! The name speaks for itself.

Opened On My own was opened in 1978 and since then it had been all work. Norma Kamali introduced her own ready to wear line in 1981 and since then her popularity has soared!

She has made footwear, fragrances and cosmetics all in her name.

She is most certainly dedicated to the fashion industry and doesn’t lack the experience.

If you want designer clothing at affordable prices it used to be almost impossible, but Norma had a brain wave making her designs accessible to people of all budgets. Her new collection is to be licensed by Cherokee, Wall mart and Norma Kamali .
The new collection of clothes is to become available at Wall mart stores. It will be able to bought by people with a lower budget but is said to still be stylish and desirable! Get to wall mart. I could never have imagined that wall mart would design a collection with Norma.

But this won't be her first experience in designing for large retailers. In 2006, she coupled with ever last and Spiegel and designed mix and match outfits for them, they were similar to her usual designs, but the collection was offered at much lower prices.

Kamali's Wal-Mart collection is said to be designed of "concepts, not pieces" with styling that will be fashionable yet timeless.

Wall mart sales are set to increase ! .
